Protecting Your Home While On Vacation

You can take the following steps to help protect your home while on vacation or absent for a season:

• Cancel the newspaper and stop mail delivery - OR - have a trusted house watch service pick up your mail.
• Have your lawn maintained
• Have your home checked regularly
• Use timers on interior lights to give the lived in look
• Install motion sensor lights that are out of reach on the exterior of your residence
• Don't hid keys outside but give them to someone.
• Leave a contact number and schedule with someone for emergencies
• Consider turning off your water to the residence.
• Unplug TV's, computers and other appliances that are susceptible to lightning and power surges.
• If you have a monitored security system, let them know of your schedule and emergency contact numbers.
• Remove any jewelry and valuables and place them in a safety deposit box.
